Ekiuwa (pronounced “Eh-Key-Wa”) Asemota, born of parents from Nigeria and the Dominican Republic, started designing her own clothes and jewelry at an early age. Influenced by fashion trends from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and New York, Ekiuwa has a distinctive style mixed with American trends that always stands out amongst her peers.

Whether it's her handcrafted jewelry or funky clothing, Ekiuwa always displays a fashion statement. At the age of 15, Ekiuwa joined Roots Community Films, a modeling and acting company formed by Jim Hill, one of the first African-American models signed to Ford Modeling Agency in the 1970s. Notable celebrities that have participated in Roots Community Films include Ashanti, Alek Wek, and various print models. With a talent not only in fashion, but in dance (Modern, African, Hip Hop and Ballet), Ekiuwa participated in various fashion and dance shows. At the age of 18, Ekiuwa started designing clothes and jewelry. Ekiuwa's pieces are created from alterations of other pieces. The fabrics used include lace, denim, brocade, beads of all kinds, leather, linen and vintage clothing patterns. Her style can be defined as Street yet Urban Couture.

Now in her 20s, Ekiuwa is happy to launch her line of one-of-a-kind jewelry and unique jewelry Eki's Famous, through The Gift Agency, LLC. Her line consists of various original pieces: earrings, necklaces, rings and clothing inspired by everyday occurrences.  

“When I make my jewelry and clothing, I'm motivated by friends and family, who tell me their stories, and what happened to them throughout the day,” says Ekiuwa. “I love to create unique pieces that identify with people's individuality.” With Eki's Famous Jewelry and wardrobe, anyone can find a piece they like-----one that fits their famous style!
